A Large duan inkstone
of rectangular form, carved with a slanting and troughed inkwell surrounded by carving in low relief depicting a confronting dragon and pheonix, flanking a flaming pearl and surrounded by delicate scrolling clouds, the reverse side with a large undecorated inkwell, the long edges each with two lines of incised calligraphy -- 9 7/8in. (27.6cm.) wide.
