Lot Essay

These prints were originally engraved from 1783-1786, after original drawings prepared by a group of Jesuits, and their Chinese assistants at the Imperial Court in Beijing. They portray the edifices, gardens and factories constructed from 1737-1766, for the Emperor Qianlong.
