A celadon jade lotus-lappet bowl, 18th century
the lobed sides carved as six lotus petals everted at the rim, supported on a short foot, each lappet carved on the exterior in low relief with flaming wheels framed by twist-rope bands alternating with archaistic taotie masks, the rim carved on the interior with foliate scrolls, the stone of a celadon tone with russet and grey inclusions -- 7 5/16in. (18.5cm.) diam.
