A cupstand of this foliate form from the Avery Brundage Collection, painted with the same design in underglaze-red is illustrated by M. Medley, Yuan Porcelain and Stoneware, pl. 55B.
A small group of similarly shaped cupstands decorated in underglaze-red or underglaze-blue are known with slightly varying floral designs of chrysanthemum as in the present dish or with peony or lotus scrolls. Compare with a cupstand from the Edward Chow collection painted with smaller floral sprays in the cavetto, sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong, 25 November 1980, lot 44 and sold again, 17 May 1988, lot 13. Another similarly painted cupstand with a ruyi medallion in the centre from the Manno Museum of Art was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 28 October 2002, lot 528.
