Lot Essay
Compare with a slightly smaller amber glass bowl sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 26 April 1998, lot 553, and sold again, 29 May 2007, lot 1650.
The shape of the bowl is most probably inspired by painted or moulded porcelain examples, such as the Yongzheng-marked yellow-glazed bowl with a relief moulded border of archaistic dragons from the Christina Lok Balsara Collection sold in these Rooms, 19 January 1988, lot 270, and included in the Exhibition of Important Chinese Ceramics from the Robert Chang Collection, Christie's London, 1993, catalogue, no. 56, together with a related bowl, the moulded dragons reserved in pale turquoise, no. 112.
