The seal knop carved in high relief and openwork with a water buffalo with long semi-circular horns, its head turned in observation of a young boy, struggling to climb on the buffalo's back, raised on a platform of square cross-section, the base carved in intaglio, baiwen, with a four-character seal chop, Wang Xun zhiyin, 'Seal of Wang Xun', the stone of a rich ivory-white tone

Wang Xun was a Qing dynasty artist whose name is recorded in Zhongguo Meishujia Renming Cidian, Shanghai meishu renmin chubanshe, 2003, p. 132. From Guangping in Hebei province, his hao, or style name, was known as Mo Nong.
