FIRST EDITION of Commandino's interpretation and development of Archimedes' theories expressed in the latter's treatise on floating bodies. The present work directly influenced Guidubaldo dal Monte and his definition of the centre of gravity was later adopted by Galileo. Adams C2467; Edit-on line 12872; not in Riccardi (in spite of his statement that his own Commandino collection was the largest in the world).
