upright flattened rectangular box (transformed from a snuff-box), the front and reverse sides centred with panels of engine-turning decorated with finely reeded criss-cross pattern, with trailing foliate border on a matted ground, the two sides chased with acanthus leaves and buds on a frosted ground flanked by vertical reeded bands with quatrefoils, the horizontal top and bottom ends with similar chasing, the hinged cover and base centred with engine-turned panels within polished gold band
