Lot Essay

Daughter of Prince Vladimir Petrovich Dolgorukii, the sitter married Prince Nikolai Ivanovich Soltykov. This miniature is after the original oval oil portrait by the Moravian painter Martin Ferdinand Quadal, engraved by A. Ukhtomskii in 1808 and illustrated in Grand Duke Nicholas Mikhailovich Romanov, Russkie portrety [...], St. Petersburg, 1905-1909, II, no. 108.
