Lot Essay

Innocent Odescalchi, Prince of the Holy Roman Empire, Duke of Syrmia and Ceri, was the son of Livio, Prince Odescalchi, Duke of Syrmia [Sirmio], Duke of Bracciano, Duke of Ceri and his wife Maria Vittoria Corsini. He married first, on 10 February 1801, Anna Luisa Countess Keglevich von Buzin (+ 13 March 1813), and secondly, on 13 March 1831, Henriette Countess Zichy-Ferraris zu Zich and Vasonykeö (1800-1852 Vienna). The pair to the present miniature, depicting his second wife, was lot 71 of the Zuckerkandl sale in 1928 and has been published in C. Krisai-Chizzola, 'Dokumentationsraster [...] von Porträtminiaturen auf Elfenbein', in Restauratorenblätter 21. Mirabilia und Curiosa, Vienna, 2000, pp. 33-43.
