Lot Essay

Miloradovich fought in the Russo-Swedish war of 1788-90, and in Italy and Switzerland under Suvorov in 1799 and in the wars against France, being awarded the Order of St. George 3rd Class in 1805. His service in the war of 1812-13 brought him the title of Count and the Order of St. Andrew. From 1818 he was general governor of St. Petersburg and was mortally wounded during the Decembrist uprising by P. G. Kakhovskii.
