General Rudzevich was god-son to Catherine II, joined the army in 1792 and saw active service in the campaigns of 1792-1794, 1805-1807 and the Fatherland war, when he was awarded the Order of St. George 2nd class. In the Russo-Turkish war of 1828-1829 he was fatally wounded near Varna.
