A GREEK GOLD AND BLACK STONE NECKLACE
HELLENISTIC PERIOD, CIRCA 3RD-2ND CENTURY B.C.
Formed of a length of three-fold double loop-in-loop chain, each end threaded through a capped cylindrical black stone bead, one end with a plain sheet cap edged with ropes, one end with filigree spirals edged with ropes, the terminals in the form of horned lion heads, petal-like ears on either side of the stylized looped horns, the back of the heads embellished with beaded filigree, the wire hooks emerging from their mouths
