This sandstone capital was part of a column in the interior of the Nieuwezijds Kapel or Heilige Stede in Amsterdam. A drawing by Jan Goeree (1670-1731), illustrated in B. Bakker, De verzameling van Eeghen, Amsterdamse tekeningen 1600-1950, Zwolle, 1988, p. 113. cat.nr. 57, depicts the interior of this church.
