Château Mouton-Rothschild--Vintage 1962
Pauillac, 1er cru classé. Château-bottled
Original tissues. Lightly bin-soiled labels. Levels: one base of neck, three very top, eight top, eight upper/top, two upper, one mid/upper and one mid-shoulder
Tasting note: Distinctive blackcurrant Cabernet aroma when first tasted in May 1965, and which continued through the 1970s. Lovely flavour, some delicacy, tannic enough in the 1980s. Tasted in just three occasions during the last decade, including deliciously fragrant bottles with lovely, crisp fruit at a Mouton tasting conducted for the Hollywood Wine Society (1998). Most recently, still quite richly coloured, sweet and fragrant. Last noted at a pre-sale tasting, New York, May 1999 ****. Michael Broadbent, Vintage Wine
