Château Margaux--Millésime/Vintage 1994
Margaux, 1er cru classé
Note de dégustation: Le vin jeune avait alors une couleur rubis assez profonde; le nez, comme souvent à ce stade, avait déjà une odeur attrayante de Margaux ; bon fruit ; extrait et longueur moyens mais tannins forts, comme le millésime 1988 et au moins autant que le 86. A la dégustation des Master of Wine en 1998, j'ai noté un nez fort de café-moka avec une odeur de transpiration que j'associe aux tannins. Riche toutefois. Mars 2001 *** M.B.
Tasting note: The young wine was a medium-deep ruby ; the nose, as so often at this stage, already had a typically attractive Margaux scent ; good fruit, fair extract and length but high tannins, like the '88 and almost as high as the '86. At the MW tasting in November 1998, I noted a strong coffee-mocha nose with the sweaty smell I associate with tannin. Rich though. March 2001 *** M.B.
