Lot Essay

In 1929 the sculptor Lambertus Zijl (1866-1947) designed glass consoles for the M.S. Johan van Oldenbarnevelt, a ship for which C.A. Lion Cachet designed the interior. The consoles, of which six were placed in the first class dining-room, have formerly been attributed to Lion Cachet (Te Duits, Persglas)
