In 1925, Jane Renouardt, an actress and director of the Théâtre Daunou in Paris, commissioned Süe and Mare to build and furnish a villa for her in Saint-Cloud near Paris. Two years later, an article appeared in Mobilier et Décoration describing the villa as the incarnation of the spirit of the 1925 International Exhibition. The present carpet, with its green and pink shades infused the living room of the villa with warmth and intimacy and set off the red lacquered woodwork for maximum effect.
