PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY FROST on the front free endpaper with one of his most famous, and shortest, poems, "The Secret Sits": "We dance round in a ring and suppose But the Secret sits in the middle and knows Robert Frost For Maxine Tull Boatner 1942." The poem is printed on p.71 of A Witness Tree. Boatner was the author of several books, including A Dictionary of American Idioms, a subject close to Frost's interests. Crane A25.1.
