FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY TO JOHN DOS PASSOS inscribed: "To Dos + Betty with love Archibald December 1954" on title and signed on the half-title. In 1923, after Macleish quit his law practice, he traveled to France. There he met other American writers such as Pound, Hemingway, Stein and Dos Passos. With Dos Passos, Lillian Hellman and Hemingway, Macleish helped finance the film The Spanish Earth. A VERY FINE ASSOCIATION COPY.
