TREASURE TROVE OF CASES AND BOTTLES
The following wines have been consigned by a prominent East Coast Family.

This pristine home cellar was the first of its kind, built with the original construction of the home in the early 60's. Walking in, the cellar is a hallowed tomb of the greatest and best wine ever made. Wooden racks with hand etched "Romanee-Conti" stretch on and on and dusty shelves hold empty bottles of the finest and rarest First Growths from the 50 and 60's. This is the old stomping grounds of what was once considered one of the more prominent collections in the early 70's, long before the days where a cellar is an ubiquitous necessity to any fine house. I was fortunate to spend a morning speaking about the collection with the consigner, and loved hearing the stories of trips to Bordeaux and shopping excursions to the city where bottles were sought out and bought by the case. This was the era of an $8 First Growth; the mere rumor of Romanee-Conti would compel the cosigner to traverse the city seeking out a retailer that could fill his backseat with fine Burgundy. This once massive collection was lovingly put together one bottle at a time over a period of twenty years, each purchase enjoyed with friends and family.

The cellar has shrunk is now rarely visited compelling the consigner to offer the following lots as a way to share with others what once gave so much joy to this wonderful family. Single bottles remain and in some instances solid cases. Nothing has been moved since its original purchase date and the provenance is impeccable. This is a rare chance to try mature Champagne, Bordeaux and Burgundy that has been waiting patiently in a dark and chilly cave to be toasted among great company.

Dom Pérignon--Vintage 1961
Epernay
Levels: 4.5cm; great condtition fine bead
"The only Champagne given 6 stars by Michael Broadbent in his book on vintage wines, where the maximum is five stars! Very fleshy and toasted, with a long, oaky aftertaste that has several nuances; coffee as usual, is the most distinct. One of the jury's real favorites at the Millienium Tasting." Richard Juhlin, 4000 Champagnes, May 2002
2 bottles per lot
