Lot Essay

Johannes ('Han') Krug (The Hague 1890-?) worked and lived in The Hague. He was a painter of flowers, land- and sea-scapes in the neo-impressionist style and it was unknown until now that he designed furniture. The suite offered for sale here was commissioned by Mrs. Cheriex Leclerq de Courcelles as a wedding present for her daughter who married one of the sons of the composer Julius Röntgen (1855-1932)
