This dolls' house has always descended through the female line, mother to eldest daughter in each generation. Families that it has passed through are Wroughton, Cazenove and Moreland. During the 1930s, the house, was at Rudhall Manor near Ross on Wye, which was visited and written about by Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton. The Chelsea Pensioners were evacuated there during the Second World War. The gardens and Ponds were designed by Peter Scott.
