With foliate bead and rope twist mouldings, with a hinged quarter veneered top enclosing an interior with supports for six bottles, inscribed in pencil underneath the top panel 'Vila Vieosa 8-6-1904', stamped to the underside within a cartouche,MARCENARIA BRAZILEIRA SOCIEDADE ANONYMA UNICA CASA E ANTICA FABRICA DE MOVEIS MUREIRA SANTOS RIO DE JANEIRO RUA DE S.CHRISTOVAO NO 129 DEPOSITO ESCRIPTORIO RUA DA CONSTITUICAO NO 3

Provenance
The Vila Vieosa, in the Alentejo, South Portugal, was the home of the last king of Portugal.
The Marcenaria Brazileira was a cooperative of skilled craftsmen which was responsible for some important state furnishing contracts at the end of the 19th century.
