The Parisian sculptor Henry Cahieux is recorded as having supplied Ferdinand Barbedienne with exclusive models for casting in bronze, among them vases with applied bas-reliefs depicting various subjects, principally in the fashionable japonaise and, as here, néo-grec styles.
