Lot Essay

Lenkiewicz produced a series of paintings in twenty different Projects. The first in 1973 was the theme of vagrancy, and the twentieth, in 1996, was the theme of addictive behaviour.
The present work is from Lenkiewicz's Project 12 - Suicide.
The room on 'Death' in Lenkiewicz's Library had a large section devoted to the subject of suicide. He had studied this material for some time, and subscribed more or less entirely to views like those of Daniel Stern. Lenkiewicz found suicide a compelling subject.
