A LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY FRENCH SILVER VEGETABLE DISH & COVER,
MARK OF NICOLAS-RICHARD MASSON, PARIS, 1ST STANDARD, 1798/1809,
Circular with raised centre to cover, capped by a large seeded knop finial resting on a stiff leaf calyx, narrow anthemion border around rim, the scroll side handles terminating at the body in leaves, engraved with an initial "A" which has been superimposed at a later date with an initial "B", 7 in. diameter (18 cm.), 30 oz.
