AN EARLY 20TH CENTURY RUSSIAN CLOISONNE ENAMEL CIGARETTE CASE,
MARK OF KS (Cyrillic), 1908/17,
Decorated all over with polychrome shaded enamels, the cream corner panels with stylised bunches of grapes, the powder blue borders with band of alternate pink & green petals, the front with an en plein enamel panel depicting two elephants on the veldt, edged on one side with an alternate blue & pink spiralled pillar, encircled by dark blue, orange & olive panels filled with flowers & foliate scrolls, pebbles & irregular motifs, the reverse similar but centred by a panel of pink flowers on pale turquoise ground flanked on one side by a pillar matching that on the cover, green glass thumbpiece, silver-gilt interior, 4½ in. long (11.5 cm.).
