In the foreground the Guardian Angel dressed in luminous garments, displaying a Patriarchal cross and holding a sword, flanked at the left by St. John the Forerunner clad in the raiment of skins and a himation, and at the right by St. Aleksei Metropolitan of All Russians in full Episcopal attire, in the background two monastic saints, Anastasia with the martyr's cross ad the holy monk Ilya, the latter wearing the Great Schema, the Mandylion above, against a gold tooled background, the patterns of spandrels and borders emulating contemporary metal oklads
