Lot Essay
In the second half of the 18th Century, the masonic lodges began to establish their own halls and to commission not only insignia but also items which reflected their social aspect. In addition to glasses and decanters, they commissioned porcelain mugs and punch bowls from China, with carefully specified decoration in overglaze enamels.
