Représenté assis en dhyanasana sur un double coussin recouvert d'une étoffe, la main gauche en dhyanamudra, la droite en vitarkamudra, vêtu de l'habit monastique, le visage serein, la bouche légèrement souriante, le nez aquilin, les yeux en amande, les sourcils coupants, portant la coiffe des Gelugpa, scellé

Lot Essay

The throne made of a rug over a double-layered cushion was reserved to the high rank lamas. See a Chinese, 17th/18th century, lacquer figure of a lama, seated on similar double-layered cushion and wearing the Gelugpa hat, illustrated in Tibetan Collection - Volumme III: Sculpture and Painting, The Newark Museum, New Jersey 1986, p.113, pl.S39.
