Lot Essay

Said to have belonged to Anne Boleyn, but of later date. The vendor's ancestor held court office at the Tower of London, and this is said to be how the shoes came to be in the family's possession.

Originally, the vamps would have been salmon pink, which combined with gold lace overlay must have been worn by a woman of means and importance, and could have possibly therefore belonged to a prisoner in the tower.
