apparently unmarked, Sumatra, circa 1750
Octagonal, the sides with various bands of swirling 'sanded' and stylised foliage bands, the base inscribed in Arabic which reads in Dutch: Deze Salapah (sirihdoos, kadam) is klaar gemaakt op 2 Rabiulawal 1267 H. (5 januari 1751) met loon x 21 rupiah. (Sumatra.), also engraved with floral medallion, the hinged cover engraved and bright-cut with sunbursts, C-scrolls and floral ornamnets and bands, inside divider lacking
