CIRCA 1728-30, BLUE AR MARK, DREHER'S MARK OF A QUARTERED CIRCLE FOR SCHUMANN TO FOOTRIM
The globular body and narrow neck with a slightly everted rim, painted and gilt in a bright palette with two birds among flowering peony, prunus and chrysanthemum issuing from a bed of earth, the reverse with a butterfly, the neck with scattered sprigs and flowerheads below a pale turquoise 'marbled' band reserved with yellow and iron-red chrysanthemum heads (very minor surface scratches)

Two identical examples are illustrated by Stefan Bursche, Meissen Steinzeug und Porzellan des 18. Jahrhunderts, Kunstgewerbemuseum, Berlin (Berlin, 1980), nos. 198-199. The example from the Sydney J. Lamon Collection sold in these Rooms on 29th November 1973, lot 13, and later sold by Sotheby's London on 2nd March 1993, lot 273, is now in the Hoffmeister Collection, Hamburg, and is illustrated by Dieter Hoffmeiseter Meissener Porzellan des 18. Jahrhunderts, Katalog der Sammlung Hoffmeister (Hamburg, 1999), Vol. I, no. 138.
