CIRCA 1725, THE AUGSBURG DECORATION CIRCA 1725-30
Decorated by Johann Aufenwerth in coloured enamels and gilding with figures in Schwarzlot landscapes on silvered interlocking scroll supports, one side with Daphne running in a river, a satyr behind her clutching gilt reeds, Cupid hovering above, the other with Diana and an attendant hovering on a cloud in a woodland clearing, below a silvered interlocking scroll and flowerhead border, the scroll handle and spout silvered, the domed cover with a continuous wooded landscape with a pyramid and a sphinx below a silvered knop finial, silver band rims (wear and oxidisation to silver, very small chip to edge of finial)
