A Japanese bronze Buddhistic lion censer, 19th century
modelled seated, one paw raised upon a brocade ball, the face with bared teeth and an open mouthed fierce expression, with a large scrolling tail and curling mane, a small section of the creatures back a detachable cover for the hollow body of the censer -- 12 1/8in. (30.7cm.) high.
