The Ponte Lucano is one of the bridges over the Anio on the Via Tiburtina. The Anio, which forms the cascades at Tivoli, falls into the Tiber two miles above Rome near Antemnae. Lear spent much of 1844 in Rome, making a trip to the Abruzzi at the end of the summer.
