The upper section with stepped pediment above a moulded glazed door with ormolu pierced foliate scroll, the circular reserve centred by a large astrolabe, the circular interior of the glass rete carrying figurative constellations for the northern hemisphere and an ecliptic circle, the rete revolving over an engraved plate with a planispheric projection for the latitude of Venice, signed 'Dr Gio: Batta Zugno Veneto all' anno 1880', within a graduated metal mount, outer metal ring graduated with an hour scale (the glass broken), the sides with hinged doors above a fall-front concealing a fitted interior with two pigeon holes, two drawers and a central door above a frieze drawer and on two glazed doors
