A two-piece 'pant suit' of gold lurex, the long-sleeved top with a ruff at the neck and cuffs, labelled inside Don Layser Boutique, the three-quarter length trousers with tapered leg and elasticated waist; accompanied by a photocopy of a letter concerning the provenance; and a copy of a photograph of the pant suit being modelled by the late Kay Kent for Christie's Film And Entertainment catalogue, 16th December, 1988 (3)

Lot Essay

The accompanying letter from James Gold O'Doul, dated 28th August, 1982, states that his father was Joe DiMaggio's personal manager, and during the course of DiMaggio's marriage to Monroe, the latter became very friendly with O'Doul's wife Jean. It is believed that the suit in this lot was worn by Monroe and subsequently given to Jean.
