The present dragon is strongly related to a design by Jean Charles Delafosse made in 1765. This design is for a pair of Neo-Classical chenets each surmounted by a dragon. G. H. Ottomeyer, P. Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich 1986, vol. I p. 21.
