The center with the arms of Sandilands quarterly impaling Hume, Pepdie, Polwarth and St. Clair, supported by a bluish-gray and a sepia and gilt lion, the crest shown twice on the rim between finely drawn flowering boughs in blue enamel, grisaille and gilt

Made for James Sandilands, 7th Baron of Torphichen and descendant of Sir Archibald Douglas, Regent of Scotland, who married Lady Jean Hume, daughter of the first Earl of Marchmont.
