The rich ormolu ornamentation of this marble-topped bracket reflects the 1830s taste for Louis XIV furnishings. It is similar in feeling to furnishings supplied for the grand London dwellings of the nobility such as Londonderry House, Apsley House, Stafford House or Northumberland House.
