A MATCHED PAIR OF ITALIAN CREAM-PAINTED AND GILTWOOD MIRRORS
LATE 18TH EARLY 19TH CENTURY
Each with rectangular plate in a moulded border framed by foliate arabesques with winged mythical female figures at each corner, the cresting with a lambrequined canopy issuing foliate swags, the apron with a pair of Ho-ho birds holding foliate swags in their beaks, one mirror with foliate arabesques at the sides, the other mirror with drapery above an urn with a satyr mask below, the sides of one mirror possibly originally with candle-branches, one mirror with fragmentary label dated 28 January 1847
