Lot Essay

Marijke de Kinkelder has assembled an oeuvre of circa 30 pictures of this yet to be identified artist. She suggests that he might have been active in Rotterdam as his work reflects the style of Jan Sonjé. The present lot is to be compared with the picture in the A. Schloss sale, Charpentier Paris, 7 December 1954, lot B, attributed to Camphuysen, where a similar group of cattle is crossing a bridge, and with the picture offered at Bukowski, Stockholm, 28/31 October 1985, lot 480 with ill., where the trees appear in identical form and style.
