Lot Essay

As pointed out by J. Erkelens, Tussen zonnegoud en kaarslicht, exhibition catalogue, Dordrecht, 1986, the artist's oeuvre mainly consists of domestic interiors, inspired by 17th century Dutch masters. In the present lot the influence of Quiringh Gerritsz. van Brekelenkam is apparent.
