Robert and Nicolas Descharnes have confirmed the authenticity of this work.

Henry McBride suggested to Dalí to create a 'sign' or poster to advertise his third New York solo show at the Julian Levy Gallery, which thereafter he reviewed positively in the New York Sun. Dalí thanked him by offering him the present work.
