Lot Essay

The title of the prints after Glauber's drawings indicates that the landscapes were drawn in Italy and Germany. Comparable drawings by Glauber were published by A. Zwollo, Hollandse en Vlaamse Veduteschilders te Rome, 1675-1725, Assen, 1973, pp. 10-9. A comparable drawing, also etched by van der Laan, is in the Albertina, Vienna (Zwollo, op.cit., p. 14, figs. 12-13).
