Lot Essay

Another drawing by the artist was sold in these Rooms, 15 November 1993, lot 79. Drawings of this type were traditionally called Adam Elsheimer. Both are comparable in subject and technique to a number of drawings now considered to be by De With, W. Sumowski, Drawings of the Rembrandt School, New York, 1992, 10, nos. 2435*, 2438-46* and 2442-7*.
