A model of the U.S.S. Hartford
C. Cook (American, 20th century); circa 2005
from a solid hull with copper painted bottom, brass propeller and rudder, black topsides with inset portholes, trailboards, cut and opened port holes, planked basswood deck detailed with chocks, railings, anchors, belaying post, capstan, ladders, deck gratings, ships boat on davits over the side, 25 rigged Dahlgren cannons, funnel with chain stays, ventilators, double ship's wheel and other details. Rigged with a bow sprit, three masts, cross spars, standing and running rigging. Displayed on three turned brass pedestals on a mahogany board.
26 x 43 in. (66 x 109.2 cm.) model on baseboard.
