Lot Essay

Previously attributed to Jacob de Wit. Robert-Jan te Rijdt has kindly suggested the new attribution. The artist was a pupil of de Wit and his father Elias van Nijmegen (1667-1755). His son Gerard (1735-1808) was his pupil.
